The first part is hydrographic survey (October 29-30) over PCM 1 line that is east of northern Taiwan, before switching to PR20 line (October 31 - November 7) that is east of southern Taiwan. Unfortunately, the severe swell under the notheast monsoon (which was mostly above 30 knots) has kept the ship sailing at zigzag path between stations. Even the ship-board ADCP showed signs of sea-sickness, i.e. there were large random errors in both ADCP and GPS data, and the profiler can hardly reach 200m depth. When reaching Pr20 on October 31, the hydraulic pipe for the A-frame had a rupture on the first station. It was fixed and we decided to head towards Taiwan from station 19. There was more furniture damaged while carrying out CTD surveys towards station 1, and deploying ARGOS drifters near station 4 on November 3.
